Disqualified from CSU, what are the next approaches?

Hi everyone,
I'm or was a CSULB student but i got disqualified during the second semester due to my 1.842 GPA instead of 1.85 GPA the school asked for. The school suggested that i should attend its College of Continuing and Professional Education and try to improve my GPA, only then i can apply for reinstatement. The problem is that I can't afford the fees of the course there. I was able to enroll in most of my courses thanks to financial aid. I'm thinking of going back to Community College for one or two semester, taking classes to improve my GPA and learn from my mistakes then to transfer to UCI ( i always want to go there). OR should i work full time and reapply for CSULB?

P.S: I was a transfer student from Community College to CSULB before. Would all the courses i previously took at Community College still count toward the transfer to another CSU or UC? What are my chances of getting there? Please advice me. Much appreciate in advance.

you can look on ASSIST to see what courses you took previously that will count for transferring. Courses don’t expire; if they are eligible for credit that stays the same, even if you subsequently went to a CSU school.

Since you have attended a 4-year college, you need to look into unit caps. Many UC schools cap the number of units you can earn and still apply if you have attended a 4-year college. The cap does not apply if all your units are from a CC. To answer the next question, you can’t ignore or “forget” the classes at CSULB; there is a national registry and you will be caught.

I suggest you run the idea of attending a CC by a counselor at CSULB to make sure they approve rather than just spending your time and money there without knowing if it is getting you towards your goal. Perhaps they can give you some kind of contract; earn a certain GPA at the CC and you will be readmitted.

Otherwise you’re probably looking at a long process. If you apply to UCI this fall (assuming you’re eligible given the potential of a unit cap) they will at best see 1 semester of CC grades before they have to decide, which may not be enough to get you in. So you might end up spending 2 years at a CC before you can enroll in a college like UCI.

If you go the CC route you might want to take an english class or two. While your post is certainly intelligible it has many grammatical errors in it; wrong tense, incorrect pluralization, etc. Pretty much every sentence has an error in it. I don’t know what subjects you studied at CSULB, but if you had to turn in papers then they are going to be down-graded due to grammatical errors, and also their presence clouds the overall message so that you might get a lower grade for the same arguments than you would have with better grammar.
