I didn't do so well on the SAT and now I am considering the ACT. If I do worse on the ACT, then will colleges know that I did worse? Should I just study the SAT harder? Please help. Thanks.

Look at both tests and consider your strengths and weaknesses. Some think one test captures their ability (ie likelier to get a high score) more than the other, and thus take that test. If you have good reason to believe you will perform better on the ACT, then do take it.

Will it hurt me if I do worse? How will the colleges find out? I thought we had to submit our scores.

I believe you can choose to withhold ACT scores, so there's no risk in trying it. You may want to check that with someone else, though, because I'm not entirely sure.

You don't have to send the ACT if you don't want to. I think I did better on the ACT i took last Saturday than I did on the march SAT, but we will see in two weeks when I get my ACT and my SAT in 1 week.

Definitely give the ACT a try. It won't hurt you if you do bad, and colleges won't see it unless you send it to them.

thanks a bunch you guys :)
