<p>On the map, two places seem really close to the university. Do you think it is a walking distance between too?</p>
<p>Because I am an international student and I am thinking about selling my car if those places are walking distance.</p>

<p>I guess IU is walkable from the Hampton as is the College Mall. I think I would look at the city/campus bus system though as both places are a bit of a hike. FWI–I wouldn’t even consider walking from the Hampton to College Mall. While things might appear to be a mile or so apart on google maps, etc. those mapping sites don’t reflect the reality of the roads that must be traveled, ie fastest way between the Hampton and College Mall is down the 45/46 bypass, but there are no sidewalks on the bypass. During peak traffic times, it can take 10 minutes by car to go the short distance. </p>
<p>I think using a combination of occassional cabs and public transportation would be far less expensive than a car in the long run.</p>
<p>How about a bike for use on good days? Do people ride bikes at IU or not really?</p>
<p>Some ride bikes cross-campus–but to ride a bike to/from campus just doesn’t work because the streets are so crowded.</p>
