I was just wondering if anyone knew what is the commute time from Vassar to Manhattan is. Is there a train or something that is faster than in car driving? I mapquest it and it said about 90mins to 2 hours.

There's a train from poughkeepsie to NYC, either the metro north or amtrak...it's about an hour and a half. but going to the city with a car is annoying, hard to find parking, traffic, etc...the train is altogether better.

Metro-North is the commuter train and runs every hour from Poughkeepsie into NYC. Takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. It runs more frequently during rush hours and there are more express trains during that time which shortens the ride a bit.

Note that it is still necessary to get from the Poughkeepsie train station to the Vassar campus....which are on opposite ends of the city (although...not a very large city!) Door to door time will probably be a little longer on the train vs. car (unless you're leaving from/going to somewhere right next to Grand Central Term.)
