distance learning?

has anyone tried online classes? specifically an intro to logic course? i have been reading reviews for the professors that will teach this class at my school, and it seems like they will all be pretty bad this year... and i need to get it out of the way. since it's just an intro course, i might be able to just read the book.. since i hear the lecturers are pretty bad anyway. anyone know about the grading aspect though? btw, this is going to be taken at a cc and will be transferred. i'm not sure if i will have to pay extra for this though..

Do you know what textbook you'd be using?

nope. does it depend on the textbook? i was just going to use whatever my school is going to be using. that is if the cc doesn't have one assigned.

You've stumbled onto something I know a bit about and my reply got pretty long, so I've PM'd you.

I've taken a few distance learning classes where the students are in a class room but the prof. is lecturing on the main campus and being televised in the class room I'm in on a bunch of big screen HD TVs. Questions and comments were to be asked live through a mic. I think its less effective compared to a normal class room lecture due to the time wasted from transmission lag.

i found it possible to get through those classes by not even attending but just knowing what material is covered and reading on your own.

What type of logic are we talking about here? Programmable or general math and boolean logic?

Or maybe the Philosophy kind? Introduction to Logic by Copi is a popular text.

yeah, philosophy

Well, that's probably the easiest kind but for most, it's quite a different course.
