Distinguished Scholarship Question

I got the National Merit Distinguished Scholarship, but I’m not sure if I will attend OSU. I also got the NM Scholarship Corporation $2500 scholarship, but this is “rolled” into the Distinguished if the student even gets it. I’m still undecided, and that $2500 from NMSC won’t make a difference monetarily if I leave OSU as my first choice school. I was wondering if alteration of my first choice school will result in withdrawal of the Distinguished scholarship?

I’m not 100% sure…but I don’t think you can change your first choice after National Merit notifies the college you designated. NM obviously notifed OSU already, if you got the distinguished scholarship

The distinguished scholarship is most definitely for those who designate OSU as their first choice on March 1. It is too late to change that. From OSU’s website:

•National Merit Finalists who rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes, and who designate to the National Merit Corporation by March 1, 2010, that Ohio State is their first-choice institution, are given priority consideration for this award.

The NM scholarship fro NM or corporate sponsors does not roll into this award. Only the one sponsored by OSU is absorbed into the Distinguished.

Congrats to you! My dd won this scholarship also.
