Distractions

So basically, my homework/studying stuff consits of study/working for about five minutes, then checking facebook, CC, IM, or whatever. If I give up all that which is really hard for me, I then end up day dreaming the same amount of time I would have spent fooling around on the internet. What should I do to get this to stop because I never get any work done???

Well, quite a stalemate there, eh? If you're screwed either way, might as well fool around on the internet. :</p>

Errrr, don't day dream?

Try setting up a rewards system wherein, say, you work on HW for half an hour and then for another 30 minutes you do whatever, and keep doing until you're done? Adjust the times accordingly...

I can relate, lol, I tend to procrastinate until the morning before or lunch before a class...watch a movie or read a textbook hmmm...

being able to quicky memorize and analyze facts helps...

quickly i mean

the bottom line is that if you really cared about your school work then you would just do it nonstop

sleep, it refreshes your mind

I kinda like Moodrets idea.

Try setting a timer for yourself. Maybe like, spend 45 mins on homework, then let yourself do "whatever" (i.e. CC, IM, etc.) for 15 mins?

Some people find that music helps them concentrate a little bit. I feel this way sometimes. Sometimes I get like 5 songs stuck in my head, which makes it hard to concentrate, but if I play some music (softly) in the background, it's a little easier sometimes.

The ratio of time that I spend daydreaming to schoolwork is about 5:1. If have to learn to concentrate extremely hard for the short amount of time that you do work. It's mostly willpower and I'm sure you already knew that. No one else can fight the distractions off for you. This is something that affects lots of people, especially once they discover CC. For example, I'm posting this instead of writing an essay.

I'm doing my nails instead of studying for boarding school apps.

The things that you refer as "distractions" are really things that shouldn't be considered negative but things that you should be embracing and doing more often.

^^Well, I was trying to rationalize that but then I was like, looking on CC about how to get into college is not going to help if I can't even study and get decent grades.

LUUUUUUL. Yyyyeahhh... actually, we all just like procrastinating [errr, I know I do! :D] more than getting good grades/whatever. :] It makes for a nice adrenaline rush as the college application deadline is within 2 minutes.. :]]] hahha.

Yep, I should be doing homework right now because I have CCD in an hour and I'm not allowed to do any afterwards for some odd reason, and yet I'm on here. Oh well... =]
