Distraught Senior Looking to Work in Investment Banking

Hello fellow college applicants && the like,
Where do I even start? I am a high school senior whose hope has been exponentially disintegrating ever since my rejection from my dream school-- New York University. My high school record has been marred by the negative aspects. Exposing these unfortunate circumstances (death of a parent, several moves and the accompanying emotional distress) in my essays in a way that was not pathetic or begging, but was simply explaining my circumstances as what they were.
I have been accepted to other schools that are not at all in the same caliber as NYU such as Arizona State, University of Hawaii-Manoa, Hofstra University, SUNY Stony Brook, Brooklyn College, Queens College, and Baruch College (my choice as of now as it has a semi-renowned business school). I am also awaiting letters from several University of California schools. If any, I think I hold the biggest chance at Irvine.
I harbor a dream of working in investment banking, albeit almost all finance majors says this at first. However regardless of how much social life I would have to sacrifice, I feel that the career would be worth it. Working in hedge funds is appealing to me as well.
My question is: Do I still have a chance of working in these fields if I end up attending Baruch? If I do go there, I would try to transfer to Wharton or Stern after the first or second year. Given I work 110% and attain a 4.0 GPA, would I still have a change in the field of investment banking—a field that almost exclusively yields graduates of Wharton and Stern?
Thanks guys. :)

Being an investment banker will require strong resilience. The life tests you are experiencing will help you when you are an i-banker.

The top investment banks certainly want to see that you have gotten a very high GPA at a prestigious institution, so work hard and transfer to NYU.

Even if you don’t transfer, you still have a chance as the i-banks do not exclusively recruit from the top schools.

Thank you so much! I am completely dedicated to working hard.

Bump******

You can always transfer. NYU is relatively easy to transfer to if you have a decent GPA.

Baruch and Stony Brook are amazing schools!

thank you guys:)
