I've been accepted to Berkeley and Davidson and I've been considering for some time now which school I should attend. I thought this was going to be pretty easy decision. (liberal arts schools like Davidson were my goals from the beginning).

But then there's just ONE thing that's been bothering me... Davidson doesn't really have a diverse ethnic group of students.

And as an Asian (korean), this kind of worries me. I've read some stuff online about minorities hanging out with only other minorities and such. I never thought this would be a problem until.. well until now.

So maybe anyone currently attending Davidson can tell me what's like to be there as a minority. Some people say that its no big deal at all, but nonetheless, its been lingering in my mind for a while.

Thanks---

Hey!

So I’m a current freshman and I can only speak from my experiences but if you would like me to get you some peoples email addresses whom you can speak with more I’d be happy to do so!

At the beginning of the year, I was concerned about the diversity issue as well because I came from a very diverse high school and I hadn’t really considered that this would be a huge change. However, it honestly is what you make of it. There are some people who are minority students who feel more comfortable with other minority students but I honestly think most minority students would agree that they feel comfortable hanging out with a mixture of people. At the beginning of the semester, you might find yourself hanging out with primarily people of the same background but by the end of your freshman year (again from personal experience) you find yourself with a wide group of friends from all different backgrounds.

If you have any more questions or want more specifics, feel free to PM me. :)

Congrats on getting into Davidson!
