i know that emory is very diverse, but ive heard that it is not integrated at all. is it true that the white people, black people, asian people, etc. all go off in there own directions?

I would say that the races do go off in their own directions, but they do so less than they do in society in general.

In comparison to other colleges, I really don't know but I would say the level of integration is about the same. If it is less integrated, it is not because Emory is full of bigotry. It may be, in part, because diversity does not necessarily lead to interaction; in fact, it can mean more separation. If a large international population exists at a college, for example, then internationals students may be drawn to the college for this reason and find themselves many friends of their own background. Whereas if they attended a less diverse college, they may be more compelled to interact with different races out of social necessity, or in any case, their separation would be less noticeable because their community is smaller in size.

I think separation of races is simply human nature. I have yet to see an educational community where the different races are fully integrated. Such a community seems like an utopian fantasy.
