What's diversity like at St. John's College (Annapolis/Santa Fe)? Is there a large proportion of minorities? Is there a significant population of gays? Do different ethnic backgrounds, economic classes, and sexual orientations interact well?

The student body here is predominately white, as is true of most liberal arts colleges. We have a decent sized gay community and an ever-growing international student population (especially asian). Most importantly, students and professors of many socio-economic/intellectual/religious backgrounds are represented. It’s an incredibly tolerant community and the student body is so small that you may not be afforded the “luxury” of being exclusive.

I would definitely second that emotion. The Johnnies I’ve encountered
are brilliant, tolerant, and enlightened (or well on their way).

And it’s a great place to get even better at those things. :)
