Diversity at these schools

If you could sum up the general student body of these schools in one or two sentences, what would it be? I'm looking for diversity...

UT Austin
Cornell
Columbia
Brown
UPenn
Colorado College
Georgetown
Wesleyan
Northwestern
Swat
Chicago
UVA
NYU
WUSTL

I've only really gotten a few general stereotypes a/b some of these schools...some good, some bad. UTA is supposedly really diverse and crazy. Wesleyan is supposedly extremely liberal and conversatives are out of place. UVA is full of good looking people that are part of old money. I'm not :)
NYU is supposedly very diverse. Am I right? Anything to add about any of these schools?

You might want to look at the "common data sets" thread that's posted at the top of this forum. Go to the last page of the discussion for a really complete list of links to schools' data sets. If you look through there you can find out what the % of each racial/ethnic group is, what % of students are receiving need-based aid, etc. Those numbers might help you to get a snapshot of the student body.

thanks there are just some things that facts and figures won't tell you.

I'd really like to know from people that have visited the schools or attend them. I plan on visiting NYU and Columbia next month so that'll be helpful...wish I had enough money to buy a bunch of College
p r o w l e r books. lol

Wesleyan is a very interesting place politically; sure, most people fall somewhere within the liberal spectrum. The difference is that within that spectrum the debates are often intense. Left-leaning kids have to defend their positions nearly as often as conservatives do because moderate students (who form the large plurality of kids) aren't shy about holding their feet to the fire.

Just some generalities about a few:

Brown - Very liberal, politically correct, pretty diverse atmosphere
Georgetown - preppy, rich, and white
Wesleyan - similar to brown, maybe even more diverse, liberal, and pc
Chicago - has a reputation for being a pretty nerdy place, not sure about diversity
UVa - has an aristocratic, old south atmosphere, might be a culture shock for someone from the north. not the most diverse place.

tks WR helpful info.
