diversity essay

i am lacking ideas for what to write for the common app diversity essay.. i dont want it to sound too cliche.

i was thinking of writing about either (a) my favorite extracurricular(s?) and how it has made me who i am and unique (b) living in a diverse city (c) switching from a 80% white school to a diverse school where literally half the students arent white

i cant really think of an experience to write about

any ideas? please help me :) thanks!

bump

(actually i dont no what that means but ive seen it in other posts with no replies… lol)

Pretty difficult to say what someone else should write about in their own personal essay…

That said, the school switching topic could be interesting for the diversity essay as long as you’ve got something interesting to say about it. The EC essay would also be fine as long as you focus on one activity and actually write an essay, not a resume.

But any topic is good as long as the essay is good as well. Likewise, a bad essay won’t be redeemed by a unique topic. Write about whatever you’re most interested in, or feel you could write best about.

It means, “I’m an annoying ■■■■■■■ who bumps threads.” It might also mean this.

i would combine b and c.

ok so for the diversity essay, im still having problems. I have a topic that shows why diversity is important to me, but idk how i can say i would use that knowledge at a college. i guess i could say something like yeah, after the experience, i gained respect for other cultures/people… but thats too cliche and doesnt really answer the question

help?

i don’t think you have to write a diversity essay, just choose another topic
