Diversity Fall Fly-In Programs

I understand that some are open application, but for the ones that send out invitations,
when do the invitations start arriving? Early in the summer after junior year?

It varies based on the deadlines, but certainly no earlier than summer. Lots of generic mailings go out inviting you to apply, but very few are invite only if that is what you are asking about? Quite a few don’t “advertise” their programs via invitation so you have to really dig around to find them, but they are still open to anyone. The only ones that I can think of off hand(in my experience) that were only for the targeted recipients were Macalester, Chicago, Penn, and WashU.

@planner03: I have never seen any information on Chicago having a fly-in program. Are you sure? Holy … I see it after a quick search. That must have gone up at the very end of summer. The dates don’t work for my daughter, anyway, but still, somehow that got past us.

Hoping for invitations to the ivies. If anyone has been to those, would love more info.

@nw2this Your child is a junior?

I have never heard of any fly in programs for HPY or Brown so if there is anything it must be deep underground. What I personally know about the other 4 schools:

Dartmouth-no invite needed it will be on their website in the spring as it is a summer fly in program.

Cornell and Columbia-no invites needed, but both programs are for perspective engineers only.

Penn does invite targeted students to apply to their PEEP program but if I remember correctly you still request an application if you aren’t invited.

I found the one for Columbia

I found the one for Dartmouth, they have one in the summer that is great for not missing classes plus a STEM one in the fall.

But the only one that I see for Cornell is for admitted students. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks!

Cornell appears to have discontinued their program.

D17 was invited to a fly-in at Caltech. Just mentioning it to because I hadn’t seen it on the list.

Would love to see an updated list with links of diversity fly-in programs for 2017-18 HS seniors.

google

@sbjdorlo It’s going to be awhile before anything for 2017-18 is posted, but College Greenlight is usually a good source.

Thanks very much, @planner03.

update?

yes please

Below is a nice link posted by @Hamlon in the African American High School Class of 2018 thread. The Williams WOW fly-in is already open. Post here if you apply and are accepted. Also, post any others you find out which may not be on the list.

@magnetnh Discover Swarthmore just opened this week too!

these are mostly all for 2016. Is there a 2017 one??

@coolgirl3 Not yet, but it’s still a nice list to start from. Many of the websites are updated with new dates or open applications.
