My son is Hispanic. If he hasn’t received anything from Cornell regarding the diversity weekend–does this mean he will not be accepted?

Not receiving it is no indication of acceptance or rejection-- just hang tight.

@maserrano: But, if he applied as a Hispanic–he would have been invited to the diversity visit. Were you also asked to participate in the summer program for college prep work?

Not all minorities who are accepted are invited to Diversity Hosting Weekend. Just sit tight and wait until next Wednesday.

@PioneerJones Thanks. I didn’t realize that. How do you know that? from previous years?

Has anyone been emailed an itinerary yet?

i got my itinerary today : )
I’m going on the very first day…April 10 : D

Not to worry: My DD received 2 Ivy likely letters ranked well above Cornell, but not anything from Cornell as yet; it matters not. Wait until 3/30, probably because you are already an automatic admit . . . so no need for a letter. Be strong. Soon come.

Just checked. i got mine too:) im going on the 11th

yayaya!!!

Maybe I’ll meet you! ;p

I just received an academic likely letter from Cornell, on top of my DHW invitation likely. It appears Cornell does indeed send purely academic likelies.

@starrpower Yay!: ) where are you coming from?

Are the academic likely admits the same thing as the invitation to the diversity visit? It doesn’t seem that way. But it does seem that Cornell invited all URM who are admits to the event. Vanderbilt does not invite all URM/ admits for “Mosaic Weekend” bc they say they do not have enough accomodations–so for Vandy, just bc you don’t get the invite doesn’t mean you aren’t going to get in.

ND does this similarly, but all URM admits aren’t invited. Same goes for Cornell. Event space is too limited to invite all of them, therefore Cornell is forced to pick who can go.

@7Sisters

My academic likely wasn’t like my DHW invite at all: there was no mention of diversity or my minority status. It simply said my application was particulary interesting to the adcoms, that I would “very likely” be admitted, and that I was a finalist for a particular scholarship.

I’m from Texas. You??? : D

starrpower Cool. I’m in illinois. kinda far. maybe we’ll still see each other haha

That is far! But yeah we probably could ; p
btw which school were you admitted to?

CALS. hbu?

CAS. I’m think the CALS ppl and Hotel admin acceptees are interesting because they are pursuing quite different things. I love how Cornell really does cater to people of just about any academic interest/ pursuit : )
