diversity on campus

HI, I am in the process of looking at colleges in the North East (Fordham, Columbia,Amherst,Wesleyan,Boston College and Brown)and a few others my guidance counselor thinks would be a good fit. I wondered if anyone had thoughts on how diverse some of them are. Being bi-racial and a good student, I get invitations to come to certain universities. Some initially seem friendly but then students of any minority status will tell me its superficial. Most of my friends are of modest means and some, because of great grades or talents, went to colleges where kids were very rich and sometimes seemed to live in a bubble. There was a lot of snobbery. At a large school it was muted, but at a school such as Amherst, very small, I suppose you might notice it more. You don't have to be a minority of color to feel this division and I wondered if anyone else had friends/family that attended some of these colleges and their opinion. Thanks!
