hi im a 17 year old Asian Indian male from California (Los Angeles suburbs) and am considering penn state. I got into the school of engineering for comp sci. My only concern is that I've grown up in extremely diverse classroom settings and penn state seems extremely white. I have no problem hanging out with other races as long as they are accepting and I wanted to gage the general attitude of the people who go there? Also, do the majority of students go home on the weekend? I know that is not going to be an option for me because plane tickets are expensive and California is far!

Everyone is very accepting and although PSU has a low minority rate when you take that out of 44,000 its still a large number of students!!!
Also there is a large portion of OOS students so most people are staying on campus. People might go home for a 3 day weekend and ive heard its very empty easter weekend which does not have the day after off but these are rare exceptions I think and you definitely wont be alone

When I took my tour, I found that yes it was mostly white, but the next most present ethnicity was Asian. Something around 3/4 white at Penn State though, maybe a bit more, so its not the most diverse school in the world thats for sure. But I think its somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40% OOS at the main campus, so there should be lots of out of staters as well as those from PA
