diversity or no diversity

I am doing an application right now- one of the 250 word limits is "What would you like us to know about you that may not be revealed in your teacher or counselor recommendations?"

I attend where over 40% of the student's parents are in the military, and 30% of that number is deployed in the war. Our school is very diverse because of the military, do you think that is an insight? If I explain how diversity has shaped my views and the like is it alright?

Or, I could talk about this one time I took a homeless guy out to lunch and sat with him talking for like two hours.

Any opinions?

bummmmp.......

I think the first option fits the question better. However, I might write my MAIN essay on the homeless thing. That's cool, too.

I agree with montagne. Both are very interesting.

would you consider the military diverse?

Remember, the question is about YOU, not your school. I don't like the first one. It should focus on something that was important to you in high school, such as a program or experience.
