So I visited Villanova the other day and it looked like a great place to have a college education. In all my years of schooling, I have always been in a very diverse environment with a mix of Asians and Americans alike. I truly enjoy this sort of environment, as I am able to gain exposure to various cultures and learn a lot from my peers. However, I know that Villanova is stereotypically considered an "all-white, preppy school." Some even refer to it as "Vanillanova" due to a lack of diversity. Being an Asian and having been brought up in very diverse environments, I am curious about how I will fit in with the Villanova community. Is there a significant Asian population at Villanova that I can hang around with? Would I feel left out as an Asian? Are there all sorts of Asian students, such as Chinese and Indian?

I looked at the VSB accepted students list for 2009 in the e-mail system address book, and just looking at last names, there are quite a number of asian ones, both chinese and indian.
Hope this helps a little. (You have to be an accepted student to access this info.)

“Race/ethnicity unknown- 223 (presumably some/most are asian?)”

The NYT did a story on this recently. The vast majority, say over 95%, of people putting this are whites. They may be on the lower end of the ranges of test scores, GPA, etc. In an effort to stay competitive, they play coy and invite speculation into their racial/ethnic identities.
