<p>Before the idiots start flocking to this thread: yes, there are Asians. I don't have the exact statistics on hand, but it's somewhere around 10-15% of the student body consists of Asians.</p>
<p>The rooms do not come with a television or fridge; however, the latter can be rented out from the university.</p>

be careful though. i've received a lot of racist remarks on campus, but i guess you can expect that anywhere. i just didn't expect it in ann arbor since it's so liberal and because of the huge asian population.</p>

<p>it's not that big of a deal, my friends and i have never had like face-to-face confrontation. it's ALWAYS when we're walking on the streets and we get yelled at from people in their cars. it was a shock to me the first time it happened because it was like the first weekend i was at umich, but you get used to it and learn to ignore it.</p>
<p>If the racism is in terms of the Asian population, then no. For the most part, the racism is in a jocular tone.</p>
<p>Yes, there's a large Asian population at UMich. With the prevalent nature of Asians at prestigious universities and colleges, it is only inevitable that Asians will be picked on. However, the vast majority of it is just poking fun at an odd occurrence.</p>
<p>You'll face varying amounts of it. Sometimes you'll be ****ed off, others times you'll laugh along. </p>
<p>All-in-all, it's a generally friendly, thriving environment. The only hate that exists is for people who are from Ohio/Ohio State, Canada and Michigan State.</p>

<p>I actually don't recall more than like one drunken incident of purposeful racism, but most of the people I hang out with aren't Asian (I totally bring diversity to my group of friends, hehe), so it's not like I'm ever in an incident when I'm walking around with a group of Asian kids and get yelled at.</p>
<p>Odd. I am white but I have plenty of asian friends and I have never witnessed an act of racism towards them.</p>
