Diversity weekend opportunities

Ya I got that from Williams too and if its on a financial aid thing then I guess I wont bother. Haven’t actually heard much about the school besides its a top liberal arts school but I’ll investigate a little more.

My DS today got a letter from University of Pittsburgh which said that if he applied and came to visit they would:

waived application fee

pay for up to $250 in transportation fees

pay for lodging for one night and make the reservation.
There was a 4th thing but I can’t think of it.

If anyone else gets any other diversity invites, please post them. thanks.

Where can you get the WOW application? Links?

You have to be invited; there’s no online application. Try contacting lrodrigu@williams.edu.

Thank you!

Update on Swarthmore. My D just got a postcard inviting her to apply for their Discover Swrthmore! weekend on Oct 3-5. She’s just a rising jr, so she’s not eligible this year (all sophs in our state took the PSAT last year, so that’s likely why she got the invite).

They do pay for transportation, dorming and meals. You need to write a couple of pretty straightforward essays to apply. Sorry, I don’t know how competitive it is to be accepted to the weekend. Here’s the website for more information and to apply:

does anybody know what the diversity weekend at duke is called? and if we didn’t get an invite, can we still apply for it?

thanks!

Anyone have the link for the Macalester one?

Macalester’s is called the Multicultural Sampler but the application process for free fly-in is already over; I emailed admissions about it.

Don’t know if this is the exact title:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/hispanic-students/670865-duke-latino-student-recruitment-weekend-2009-a.html

DS just received an invite for free fly-in etc to Whitman College under a diversity weekend. application appears easy, no essay to write. visits can be in oct or nov. depending on students choice they said something like 100 hs seniors apply or invited and they typically invite 50% of those who apply.

^ I also received that email invite. The app does require two short (<300 word) essays.

[Visit Scholarship Program](http://www.whitman.edu/content/admission/visiting/vsp)

Sorry, I wasn’t focusing on it enough and just trying to get the info out there. Short answer questions are easier than the larger essay required by Williams.

Does anyone know if the notifications/invites for Emory, Cornell, UNC, Rice, Dartmouth or Pomona have been sent out?

Also, any way of getting a Wash U invite online?

Bump, please and thank you!

More links!

Here’s a link to Reed’s: [Reed College Admission Office](http://www.reed.edu/apply/mspd/)

Funny that you would post the Reed program because we were just visiting their campus yesterday. We just happened to have some time to on our hands and were in the neighborhood. It’s a very nice campus and everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. They were in a period between summer programs and fall semester so campus was pretty quiet. Their dorms all looked really nice, some were very old and the newest were built last year. We visited the library which has a tower where all the sr thesis’ are displayed, we found a couple by friends of ours who were Reedies. It may be a bit small and too close to home for my offspring, but definitely a great school with much to offer, and one of the few LACs in a metropolitan area.

Colorado College just sent my DS an invitation to their multicultural open house to be held Nov. 5-7. Again an invitation to pay for travel expenses (1 student and parent) was included as part of application (short essays, transcripts, scores). I forgot to copy the link but if someone can’t find it. let me know.

If anyone else gets diversity invites, please post them. Thanks

I’ve gotten an invite from Hamilton as well (Diversity Days, I think). PM me if you’d like transcribed details.
