I know that Fordham is not the mot ethnically diverse college out there, but is it difficult for the other races, such as black people to fit in there. I am highly considering Fordham, but this is something that concerns me with going to a school that is not very diverse. The high school I go to know is a 98% white, Catholic, prep-school, and I sometimes found it hard to fit in. There wasn't much explicit racism or anything but sometimes you get an uncomfortable vibe. Is it like this for the minorities at Fordham, or do the white students treat others the same (implicitly and explicitly)

Also, does it seem like there is a racial division or do you see a good mix of diversity within friends? Like in my school (sorry to keep using it), the blacks tend to gravitate toward one another, same with the whites. Only a very few blacks are in a “white clique,” including me, and even at that it is difficult to feel accepted in that group, at least for me.

Which campus? I will be honest, I don’t see a lot black people at LC, but there’s a good number of them. And no, they don’t only hang out with black people. Everyone mixes with each other.

The only “race” that hangs out with each other only are the Asian exchange students, because of cultural/language differences.

I am sure it’s the same in RH.

RH campus, and thank you.

Thre are many threads on this topic in this year and previous years.

But to be right to the point, Fordham is 25% diverse. Most of those are hispanics because most Catholic minorities are hispanic. There are asians and african americans on campus.

If you choose NOT to attend Fordham how will it ever improve? A salient and prescient question to ask you.

I urge you to attend and make Fordham better.

Rose Hill has all the athletes many of whom are african american. Athletes stick together so its not that they are being reclusive and cliquish its that their schedules and eating habits differ.

Fordham WANTS more minorities.

Fordham is middle of the road politically. Mostly the muddled middle. Not overtly left or right, but certainly people on all sides of the political spectrum. My kid had friends from all over, all races and all religions. A Lebanese student, a Palestinian, several Jewish friends, Asians and Hispanics and black students. She tutored Black teenagers in the Bronx.

Fordham is what YOU make it. What YOU bring to campus and how YOU choose to change it.

If you turn your back on Fordham then please dont say its because it wasnt diverse enough and too preppy. Because then you are part of the problem and not the solution.

Thanks. And welcome to Fordham!
