Diversity?

Okay, so I'm Chinese and definitely considereding Northeastern. But, I was looking at the student body breakdown for Northeastern and it seems that the majority are Caucasian. Do minorities at Northeastern feel isolated? Or are there actually more minorities on campus than what the numbers say? I'm just worried that I'll end up at Northeastern and feel completely isolated since half my HS is asian and I won't be able to adjust. Would it be drastically different at Northeastern?

Student Body
Enrollment:14,730
Female: 51%
Out of State:66%
International:5%
African American:6%
Asian:7%
Caucasian:65%
Hispanic:5%
Native American:0%

i've been thinking of that too..i'm indian..but its a small concern for me..northeastern is surrounded by other colleges so ur bound to meet ppl of different ethnicities..also, i feel like northeastern is trying to become more diverse w/ its acceptances..i dont have a reason for it..just an opinion..=)

Yeah, I think they are being more diverse and also, more minorities are prob. starting to apply to Northeastern. Yeah, it's true that there are tons of other colleges with lots of minorities, but if your own campus (Northeastern) isn't diverse, I think it would still bother me. So are you definitley going?

i'm waiting till they finalize my fin. aid offer..if it's pretty much the same..and it doesnt change by more than 5k, its def. my first choice..i really dont want to go to SUNY..=(..how about u?

question: do u know wat it means when ur EFC has an asterisk next to it?

forget it, i got it..lol

Northeastern is actually fairly diverse (both in terms of student body and faculty). The university's diversity is celebrated on campus through a number of cultural events that take place during the year. Students also have their own centers in which to socialize, network and obtain support. Some info:

Heh, I can't decide between Northeastern and SUNY Binghamton. =</p>

Green29, I really feel your pain in not wanting to go to a SUNY...

Yea Northeastern isn't soo diverse like some schools, but in most colleges in this country the majority is Caucasian. Boston is a pretty liberal city and it has its own Chinatown, so I wouldn't worry about racism at all.
