I am looking into q.u for communications, but i have reservations because of rumors of a really hemogenous student population. is it really like a 'country club'? is there some diversity among the student population? are they nice/open/friendly? or really materialistic?

i know these are really broad, general questions, but id like to get an idea of students there...

When I first came to school I was one of those people who thought that the school was very homogenous, but now as I'm finishing up my freshman year I think otherwise. Yes it's true that the majority of students are white middle-upper class, but the stereotype of "country club" refers to the gorgeous, perfectly groomed campus. There are many different types of people here, and it's easy to choose the type you want to be friends with. One of my closest friend is my roommate who I thought I had nothing in common with the first two weeks of school. Overall the school is very friendly and nice, people are always holding doors open, etc. but there are a group of shallow, materialistic people who honestly don't even care about academics, but rather who they're hooking up with later that night, or where they are going to party.

I hope that answers your question! let me know if theres anything else you'd like to know.
