I was wondering if there is a lot of ethnic diversity at W & M. I am particularly interested in the black population and international students. What's the country most represented? Does anyone know if there are Ghanaian students that attend W & M? Do minorities tend to hang out with one another exclusively? Please shed light on the minority experience at W & M.

are you a ghanaian international student? I know there are a couple of ghanaian there, I got accepted and might go there in the fall. It really depends. I have been to the campus though, eeveryone is really nice and friendly. seems like a cool place. I am from Ghana too.

I am not a Ghanaian international student, but my parents are both from there and I am deeply proud of my heritage. I just wanted to know if there are any people there that may have similar backgrounds as me.

they are working to increase the number of international students. Minorities do not hang out with only minorities.

cool i will see u in the fall then and i am glad you are proud of where you came from. have u ever been to Ghana?

W&M accepted 37% more minorities this year

I was considering applying to W&M and I'm Ghanian too :) I had the same concerns with diversity and also class/race interaction.

There is some segregation socially, yes, but for the most part people don't care what color your skin is. I personally have several minority friends, as do many people, so I would say that class/race interaction is a lot better here than other schools. I had an african-american in my pledge class and now I'm very good friends with him.

Why dont you guys use the trm unrepresented instead of minority, common sense shd let you know America is fll of white people and as such in a great instituion such as william and mary they would be the majority. I think the admission counselors are doing their be to make the college as diverse as possible.

I agree that the admissions staff is doing their best. I just used "minority" because most of the school is white, so everyone who isn't white is a minority at the school, that's all.
