I think one of my friends who runs 1500 got a PR (personal record) of like in the 4 minute 20/30 second range I believe, he went pretty far in the state tournaments. However not 100% sure on time.

I'm just bumping this up again for other people to contribute. Greatly appreciated, particularly from Andover students but anyone would be greatly appreciated!

hmmm, if you post your times i could probably tell you if you have the ability to be recruited. if possible, also post your miles (or kilometers) that you run per week and the length of time that you've been running. even if you're not recruited for division I, you can always do division II, or division III (there are a lot of awesome d3 schools). also, ask the same question here: dyestat.com Track Talk . the people there are very knowledgeable.

I do the 1500 in 4:34 (I think...) in Year 9 but i haven't done much AT all and have gained weight so Year 10 will be worse by far...I just started training today and I was only doing 5 minutes straight on the treadmill at 15km and it killed (never used treadmill before so not sure if thats normal though)

I actually don't want Div 1, I want a good school as I know my limitations so basically to give me a lift for Princeton/MIT/Any school great in economics/political science etc for undergrad

Okay that forum which you thankfully put on (Thanks!) shows how aweful I have become. 15 killed and I need to do 24 to get to the record guy at least do around 21ish km

Ya the people I know in Cross Country and Track pretty much practice DAILY as in running everyday through almost the whole year just to stay in the shape needed.

You have a very specific question, so I'm guessing the lack of responses is due to that. But it also depends on what school you want to go to. Some schools demand certain times, so I would really recommend talking to each school's coach.

Errrr and "athlete" is misspelled for the title of this thread....it kind of reinforces stereotypes about recruited athletes hahahaha. Oh dear.

You said your in 9th grade? If so, then keep training and it is possible you could get recruited. Keep in mind there are tons of DI schools and some require amazing times while some have somewhat lower standards.Either way, your not looking to get into the University of Oregon or Stanford for track anyway. ^Princeton's top guy, from what I can tell from the results of NCAA East Regionals ran a 3:52 1500 but I have no idea what some of their other guys can run. Improve your times, and if you could bring the 1500 down 15 to 20 seconds, there is a strong possibility you can get some pull at a lot of colleges.

I got a few partial scholarship offers for track. I'm a sprinter though. Don't think I'm going to be running in college though, it just seems like too much work running D1.

Yes, lol, I did did misspell athlete, lol.

I just kinda want to do it to get pull at a school like MIT or Princeton. So 3:52,hmm... Thats pretty freaky! No way I can get from a 4:30+ to a 3:52! Might as well give up and concentrate on other things...

Awww don't give up. You have three more years to get good. :) But if you're only running so you can get into MIT or Princeton, then yeah, maybe you do need to focus on other things.

But thanks guys!

NO! Do not give up. That was their top guy. I saw some other times for some Princeton guys for the mile (1600M) and they were in the upper 4:20's range and that is definitely attainable. Just work hard but do not give up! You still have plenty of time...
