Hi guys! I was just curious about how many of those students accepted to Amherst had attened DivOH. I was accepted to both and just wondered how good of an indicator DivOH is in terms of the more general admissions pool especially since you usually have to be invited to apply to DivOH. Also, is there anyone that was accepted to DivOH, but not to Amherst?
Thanks.

I was accepted to DIVOH and to Amherst.

I can say, from the people I met at DIVOH that 12 people were accepted. 1 was waitlisted, and 1 was rejected, as far as I know.

Thanks for responding. I am just really curious about this.

I attended DivOH and was rejected. But mostly everyone I know got accepted.

Funny story, rejected from DivOH and accepted to Amherst. I think I was rejected because I live in NC though…close enough to visit, I guess?

As in North Carolina?

I doubt that would be the reason. Most of the people who were at DIVOH with me were from the Northeast.

Same as yos, rejected from DIVOH but accepted RD.

yes, but being rejected from DIVOH doesn’t mean Amherst isn’t interested in you. There are many reasons that they didn’t accept your application to DIVOH. Hope you attend Amherst. My daughter loves it. But, regardless, congratluations!

I didn’t know that you had to apply for a DIVOH invite until now… and I was browsing Amherst’s CC section in the fall thinking that they didn’t want me! Nonetheless I didn’t attend and I still was accepted RD. They are hosting another one in April so I will attend this upcoming one instead! Anyone else going?

DIVOH rejected me too, but I was accepted. I actually think applying for DIVOH is advantageous – even if you were rejected. It lets them know early on that you’re interested.

oneric, I will be attending the one in April. :)

Another advantage is sometimes you get a waived application fee even if you don’t get in to divoh :]

^ Aww my parents were giving me a huge fuss about expensive app fees… I definitely wish I knew about divoh earlier!

And MuseClio, that’s great to hear a fellow CC’er will be there. Have you committed to attending Amherst?

oneric, I’m still waiting on Brown. But honestly, Amherst is winning me over. I’m also waiting to see if the finances work out.

Have you committed?

I am also waiting for Brown! It has been my long-time first choice so I’m hoping that will work out, but if not I have a 3-way tie at the moment between Amherst, Northwestern, and UChicago. It’s such a hard decision! Finances will also play a big role in my decision. Feel free to message me (since I don’t wanna clog this board up with our private discussion) because I’m curious about how your final decision will play out since we’re in similar situations :P

also attending mid april DivOH :D

Wait, there’s another DIVOH? I attended the one in September and got into Amherst ED

^ Yep, there is one April 17th-19th

April 17th-19th is Admitted Students Open House, DIVOH that so_statickk is referring to is Diversity Open House for prospective students.

On the travel permission form I printed out for this April 17th-19th event, the event is listed as “Amherst College Diversity Open House”, so this lead me to believe it is another DIVOH. Perhaps the form was a bit misleading then Are all admitted students invited to the April 17th-19th event?

Wait, I’m confused! Amherst has an accepted students’ DivOH? I went to the one in the fall and would love to go to the accepted student’s open house, but I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it. Either way, I’m just happy I got accepted to my top choice. Jeffs all the way!
