Thanks, elbeeen Congrats on your acceptance!

I got accepted, but I think I’m going to turn it down because I can’t afford to miss my classes on Monday. I’m already having to miss some classes to visit WashU (which is higher on my list).

wow…I almost missed the deadline -_-. I already bought the AMTRAK tickets before sending the fax to Amherst, and apparently I have to call the travel agency at Amherst? I hope I can still get reimbursed???

idiot, i’m just mailing my tickets adter divoh for reimbursement. thats one way other than using their travel agent

@nne718 - If you do not mind me asking - is WashU paying to fly you in or are you paying for it yourself?

Thanks.

The WashU program requires that you pay for yourself. But they provide meals and housing.

Thanks elbeen-

Do they actually have a Diversity weekend or is it just whenever you can take the time off to visit?

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Hahaa no problem! And I don’t think it’s for diversity. I think it’s just a weekend for any propsective students who apply before the deadline.

@elbeen
i just completely forgot what my ID was and thought you were calling me an idiot
This is the problem of using a random screenname so nobody would know who you are…

^ hahahahaha never would i call you that :]

@2011VAMom and @elbeeen, WashU is actually paying for me to go. Most people have to pay for themselves though.

I think I’m going to go ahead and do the Amherst thing. Hopefully I can get an early flight back or something.

I was accepted but sadly won’t be able to attend because I’m studying abroad in Taiwan - Amherst said that they’re unable to fund the cost of the trip considering the cost, which is very understandable.

Hope all goes well for all of you attending :)

My D didn’t get accepted for this either–but thankfully her application fee was waived. I believe it when they say their numbers are up. Great Reputation + Increased word of mouth + Lousy economy = Higher application numbers. Folks, there a lot of great schools out there–odds are you’ll get into one of them. Not everyone is going to accept ya’. That’s okay–its part of the process. Just go for it/don’t fear rejection.

I got my letter Friday; accepted for the October session. =D Pretty exciting; I had no clue I would actually be considered. It will be a long day probably seeing I live in Texas and I will have to fly to Massachusetts. (plus, the nearest airport is 3 hours away) but that’s okay. Can’t wait to see anyone else there!

^ Sheesh, that is a long day hahaa. But congrats :]

Thanks! Yes, it is one downfall of living in the smallest town ever located in the middle of nowhere, but guess it also sets me apart. (There are 18 people in my class; 66 in my school)

Wow, flyingdeloreans, I’m so sad about that! I was looking forward to meeting you… :(

See you all in barely one week :D

This may be a silly question, but on AMTRAK can we check luggage although the Amherst station has no baggage hours/help (does it mean they have no baggage center?)? Eek I can’t believe it’s already tomorrow…I hope we can do work at night…need to write essays…

Hahaa we all met yesterday and yet I don’t know who any of you are on here! Idiotqueen, I probably saw you waiting for the train this afternoon. I hope you guys loved Amherst as much as I did! Oh and I thought it was hilarious that one girl had an LLBean bag because that’s the concept behind my collegeconfidential name.
