Divorce.

I have discovered that my parents are very likely to separate next year. Nice of my dad to my mom 8 days before Christmas...I feel horrible and I have been crying the whole day :(

I am wondering if I can write my essay about this topic because in a way I have lived with it my whole life. My dad has never loved me and I have never loved him either. As a result, life is so difficult for my mother and me..He spews fear, anxiety, and rage. Is writing about how I have coped with divorce good? I think it might be because it really has been a major part of my life sinse I was a baby. Sinse I was born, I knew that one day they would break up. But I always thought they would wait until I was done with high school to avoid more stress in my life.

Off the point: My mom doesn't want to divorce yet and said she won't sign any papers. I don't know much about the process but does anyone know if the couple has to agree in order to divorce?

you need a hug :)

i think you could write about it, but not as a hokum to gain sympathy- you could write about how it made you what you are now.

i'm sorry about your family.

thankyou. that is what i have been thinking. sadly, it is a defining part of my life and always has been. but i want to take it as a learning experience.

I am so sorry.

This news, at this time of year and of your high school career, must be devastating.

You are in the midst of applying to college? Do you have essays already done/underway? If yes, what is their status? How do you feel about them?

You might consider posting in the Parents Forum. I expect that a number of parents there will likely be helpful to you.

That is a great idea ADad! I should do that one day for sure. However, I am only a sophomore at th moment. But I will remember your advice.

Try to put a positive message in if you can.

Hang in there! :)

Oh, you are a sophomore!

Well, then, yes, an essay on this topic could work. The passage of time would allow a perspective that might be hard to attain at this moment.

This topic should work. It's very personal. Because your a Sophomore, you have mroe time to gain more experiences.

I'm a Senior, so I don't have as much time to write my essays and gain more experiences.
