Divorced Parents and Need-Based Aid

My parents have been divorced for several years, and I live with them equally. Honestly, I would not be able to afford to go to the Ivy League schools with my parents' combined income, though I should be fine with just one. Does anybody know the policy for need based aid and divorced parents? Could I just apply with one parent's income and assets?

If you are applying for need based aid at any of the Ivies, you will be required to provide the financial information for BOTH of your parents (and their spouses if they have remarried). Most of the Ivies use the Profile and require the non-custodial parent form. Princeton uses its own finaid form, but I believe that also asks for non-custodial parent info.

FAFSA only schools will only require one parent (and spouse). If you live with them equally you are REQUIRED to use the parent with the HIGHER income…those are the rules.

All of the competitive private colleges that meet need such as ivies will look at both parents.
