Like, I know a few of them from Kansas/Oklahoma seem totally out-of-tune with well, the stereotypical person from Kansas/Oklahoma. It seems like the majority of CCers I know from those states seem to be liberal, which is interesting.

Has anyone else noticed something similar? I'm thinking that it's probably since people who come here generally aren't conformists with their own environments, especially when those environments have very few high-achieving students. Here, it seems that geography often doesn't seem to impact a person's political/social views.

The intellectual community leans heavily to the left, as do the young. It's no surprising that a forum for young intellectuals would have mostly liberals, no matter where they are located.

I'm from Mich. Technically we're a blue state but if you look at the counties, only 3 counties went democratic in the last election so the vast majority of people around the state are republican but the city that counts, Detroit, is something like 90% democratic. Oh, I am liberal.

I live in Tennessee, where liberals=Satan. Considering everything, I'm pretty liberal here, but moderate, right-leaning everywhere else. I'm a solid libertarian/centrist.

I think the majority of people here are at least leaning to the left, no matter what state they're from. And since there are liberals in conservative states who have internet access and questions about a college education, you will find them here (as well as conservatives, albeit outnumbered).

It seems like most people on this board become very, very red when it comes to affirmative action boards though. Just a thought.

I'm from Jersey, which although is a blue state, parts of it are very red... like my town. However, the younger generation is much more liberal. Within my high school, it is pretty evenly divided. Me? I'm a libertarian. :)

Are you from northern or southern Cali? It seems that those from southern are more liberal and those from northern are more conservative. At least, that's been my personal experience.
