Btw, the answer I am hoping to hear is no. I think it's a shame and a waste of time to run back home every chance you get. Do a lot of people here go back home on the weekneds? bc for whatever reason, the campus always seems dead to me.... :( why is that?

Well, GT is a couple of hours from the beach and the mountains, places to hike, rock climb, etc. And, GT is right by the Midtown, with many cultural options. There is plenty to do on campus, with CRC, DramaTech, a cappella, Under the Couch, festivals, movies, etc. But there is also plenty to do off-campus. GT has more students now than ever. If you are bored during college, there may only be one place to point the finger.

Ok, my question was, do students go home on the weekends.

Nope. If you go during the summer or finals, it will be dead. Also, the academic buildings are mostly dead on weekends, but the living areas during the main semesters are full of activity.

cool, thanks. but are you a student there?

Some go home, but there is so much to do that many people don’t. I was trying to point out reasons that there might not be 20,000 students hanging out on campus on any particular weekend.

DD sitting next to me (just finished junior year) recalls freshman year weekend days to feel dead on campus, but lots of parties/activity at night. She’s lived off campus the past two years.

I just finished my first year there.

People who are really close to their family tend to go home a lot more often than others. Personally, I went home once for Fall Break fall semester and once more during spring semester. Most of the people I know only went home when they had a doctor’s appointment or something like that to go to. There’s also a surprisingly large population of out-of-state students too, so they’re definitely not going to be going home. Basically, from what I experienced during my first year there, most people don’t go home unless they have to. Why would you want to, anyway? All of your friends are on campus and on the weekends you can go out and stuff like that – much better than sitting at home in my opinion! haha
