<p>My SOC hostess' boyfriend went to Harvard, but they had known each other since HS.</p>

<p>Some do. I know several girls who do. I've gone out with one myself. MIT is more common, though.</p>

<p>I've yet to meet someone who says, "I have to go out with this guy because he goes to X school."</p>

<p>It seemed to me people met guys through mutual interests/activities or introduction through friends. What school the guy happened to attend was ancillary.</p>
