Do A+'s mean anything?

Let's say a student has 3 A+'s out of 5 classes (100 level) at a prestigious school. What does that show?

Well, that shows that they earned 3 A+'s out of 5 classes (100) level at a prestigious school.

That is pretty darned nice and stuff.

(^_^)

they generally don't see A+'s because they see GPA's... usually they reweight it probably

lol mildred.

Yeah, it will just show up as A+. However, it will turn out to give you the same GPA as someone getting an A in the same class. But then again, the admissions officers will notice the A+s so it "looks better."

Yeah, even though A+'s and A's have the same points, a computer isn't going to calculate a GPA for your and have the adcom just look at that number only. They're going to want to see your actual grades and what classes you got those grades in. So of course they're going to see your A+'s and everyone knows A+'s are better than A's. So there is benefits to getting A+'s.

What if those A+'s are Sociology 100, Anthropology 101, and Honors Humanities 140?

(liberal arts INTRODUCTION classes)

Chanman...are you looking for some compliments? Good job for your A+s in your classes. Don't worry...your effort shows well in those grades and will take up for some benefit when admissions officers look at the transcript.

So keep up the good work!

If your school shows grades as A+, A, A- ...wouldn't your gpa reflect that? My school only does A,B,C..so even if you get an A+ your transcript still only shows an A. My gpa reflects this.

well i've never seen anyone more conceited than this chanman here... congrats boy-- no, not on ur A+s in some cakewalk humanities classes

if your school weighs an A+ as 4.33, will each school use your school's GPA or do they recalculate it based on their system?

Example: A= 4.33 or 4
A- = 3.67 or 3.66, etc.

I think they reweight it, or they should at least. If you're looking at a school that has weighted class compared to those that don't, the applicants from the weighted GPA probably would be higher than those that are unweighted.

chanman....is your gpa over 4.0?

Everyone here is just guessing on what a transfer college might do, they do not really know.

If they look at each grade they will be impressed. If they look only at GPA they will know something is up if your gpa is greater than 4.0

no, it only shows 4.0

But i was only concerned because these are easy classes.

Does your transcript show an A or an A+?

A+, A, A, A+, A+
Soc 100, Econ 101, Asian 251, Anthro 101, LHSP 140
4.0
