Will they email us of our admission as well?? Because I live internationally, and if it's only through postal mail, it'll take around 2 weeks for me to get my decision... AND I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!! :(

I'm a Washington State resident though.

i’m PRETTY sure that decisions for international students are emailed as well as mailed because postage takes longer. but remember that notification is two weeks long, so it might take you two weeks to know even if it is emailed. does your family live in washington and you live alone internationally? if so, they’ll probably send it there, assuming its the residence you put on your application. just a hunch! breathe <3

If the address that UW has as your current residence, and it’s international, you should be getting an email.

@pantree Nope my parents are all here as well; the reason we’re living internationally is because my dad has a temporary work assignment here! Ahhh!!!

@ghuskies My permanent address is in Washington, but my mailing address is international for my home here.

I’m fairly sure you will hear earlier than the mail will take to deliver it internationally but if you want to double check, just for some reassurance, can you call the admissions office? They’re probably swamped right now but it’s worth a shot! Best of luck :)

Yeah, I figured I should try contacting them. I’ll give it a go! Thank you so much If you’ve applied, best of luck to you as well!!

Let us know what happens! Thank you, I am impatiently waiting as well! I live about 3 hours from UW so hopefully I get to hear back in the next few days

They don’t give admission status over the phone :(

@ghuskies Will do! You keep us updated as well THIS IS SO EXCITING ISN’T IT, AHH.

@MAnde13 Yeah I highly doubt they’ll do that hahaha I’ll only be calling to see if I’ll be getting a letter or an email!

Of course SO exciting!! I checked the UW tumblr tag and there are tons of pictures of excited kids who got accepted today, it was cool to see them haha.
^and yeah just call to make sure that they know your living situation and it will work out just fine I’m sure!

UPDATE: For those in the same situation as me, I emailed my regional counselor and I got this back:

"The University of Washington freshman notification period for mailing admissions decisions is March 15 to March 31. Although decisions have started to go out, not all decisions have been finalized, and not all decision letters have been sent. We will mail the remaining admissions decisions as soon as possible and no later than March 31st.

All decisions are sent via postal mail, so please allow time for overseas delivery. The mail should be received within 7-10 days once it has been sent but keep in mind that all decisions have not been made yet.

Our staff cannot give admissions decisions over the phone.

We know the wait is a long one, and we thank you for your patience."

So worst case scenario would be that UW is the last school I hear from Guess I gotta wait a bit longer!

@ghuskies Did you get anything yet??

Grrrrr that’s annoying that they won’t email you! They must have just noted you as a resident and ignored your current living situation

I got my acceptance letter today! Can’t believe how excited I was to receive such a small envelope with a single sheet of paper in it lol.

what about me? i’m a international student. but i live in MA for a long time.
do i still get it by postal mail? or email first?

Your situation is different than OP’s, I’d say you’re a legitimate international student so you should expect the email. Unless you still have an address in MA?

@ghuskies AHH THAT’S SO EXCITING! CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU

@wwwwretch I think they’re sending all decisions via postal mail no matter where you live in the world, so I’d expect snail mail.

wwwwretch: What did you write down as your mailing address? If it is in the US, then you will receive snail mail. Otherwise, you will receive an email and then snail mail.

Thanks so much I hope you hear back soon!!!

I live in Hong Kong. So I get an email later? I’m so scared and excited!

@speedsolver I don’t think we’re getting an email even if we live outside the U.S. If you saw what I posted before, I contacted my regional counselor and she said that /all/ decisions are only sent through postal mail, and to give time for overseas delivery. Hope that helps, @sleepdeficit?

Do they use DHL for shipping overseas?
