If I google my name with my location, there are tonnes of newspaper articles that come up. So I was hoping that admission officers google my name haha. Does anyone know if they check your internet record?
This is directed at maybe top 100 universities

No, they explicitly do not do this.

Based on a recent thread here on CC with a link to a survey of admissions officers, it’s possible that an applicant may be the subject of an internet search.

Another quote, same article:

My point is that 29% of officers are NOT doing this with EVERY applicant. They probably do it to check up on something in an application that seems unusual, and only with an applicant who seems promising.

^^ I agree. But, as some colleges have been burned recently by admitting students who faked their way in (think Harvard and Adam Wheeler), my guess is that some selective colleges google/facebook accepted students before their fat envelope is sent out as a means of double-checking an applicant’s credentials.
