Do admissions committes review applications alphabetically?

This is a dumb question, but I thought that if students with a surname that begins with a letter later in the alphabet get a later review, then it is more likely that spaces would have run out/admissions people started to get tired of reading = higher rejection chance. Any input?

I know of one institution where I attended for summer school that updates online data alphabetically, but I'm not sure if this can be extrapolated to other areas of the process.

Each school is different. The schools I know about break up their applicants into geographical areas, so people are always reviewing students from the same group of school which allows them to compare similar students together and allows them to learn each schools curriculum and counselors. They also say that each application gets looked over at least twice. After that, they can go to admissions committee for review. So the short of it is I really, really doubt someone would get admitted or rejected due to their last name.
