With all the chance me's going around I was just wondering if info in cc ever leaks to admissions offices. For example, if admissions officers check their school's page to see what is being said and see the "chance me" threads for their school.

There are several visible admissions officers on the site. MIT, UVA, UChicago come immediately to mind. I’m sure there are plenty of others who are either lurking, or have not paired their username with their university.

CC posts are indexed by Google. An admissions officer who happens to do a general search might turn up something posted on CC without explicitly looking for it. That would be especially easy in the case of students who post all or parts of their application essays.

One would assume they would look at CC in questionable cases, including, but not limited to, essays.

Thanks for the feedback!

I know there are several admission deans and staff who openly post and respond to questions on their respective schools’ sections. There are probably others who peruse but don’t have time to post. As a rule they won’t estimate anyone’s chances here, but will instead encourage you to apply so they can see the full application. They do keep their finger on the pulse of conversation, so to speak, regarding their schools.
