Do all acceptees get invited to the multicultural celebration weekend...

Do all acceptees get invited to the multicultural celebration weekend, or is it just minorities? or is it just top students regardless of the minority status? I can't imagine WashU covering the transportation costs of ~two thousand students.

Yah I know! I was like... this is too good to be true!

I'm white and not invited...

I'm Asian and invited! Yay!

They said they're covering my airfare, but the little card says it's for April Welcome, not the multicultural celebration weekend.

Isn't the multicultural weekend part of the april welcome? :P

I was under the impression that they cover airfare for all accepted students to visit in April (they paid for my visit last year).

To be rather blunt, mainly anyone who isn't white is invited to multicultural weekend (there's been debate about that among students for a while... I posted a link to a studlife article on another thread a little while ago)

I am 100 percent white, and I was invited to the multicultural celebration!

I take that back then! It's nice to know that they really are making it "multicultural" this year.

(The only "white" kids I know who went previous years tend to be something like part hispanic, asian, etc).

Haha, I actually even just double-checked my app to make sure that I checked "Caucasian/White" (I did).

I think it might have been because I'm involved in my school's International Club and listed it on my Common App. I didn't write the short answer or an essay about it, though.

In any case, I'm excited about it. My only concern is that it might be kind of awkward when we have the opportunity to spend time with the organization for our culture/background.

I'm black, and I didn't get invited, but I'm also an Ervin finalist...so, that's probably why.

im asian and a moog finalist and i got the invite...

princessbell - you are correct in your assumption, since you have the opportunity to visit campus during Scholar Finalist weekend.

I'm an annika finalist and I was still invited...They also paid for me for discovery weekend.

i rsvped for olin spotlight weekend first before i knew that they would only pay for one
now i can't go to multicultural :(

I'm white: I wasn't invited to multicultural weekend, but they did offer to pay to fly me out just to check out the campus any time in April

I think everyone's invited since the invitation is placed inside the acceptance package.. :o

hmm I live in Beijing. I haven't gotten the package yet (I checked online)... think they'll pay for a trip? =P
I bet they most likely won't pay for an international trip... but I'm going to the US in the beginning of April, if I call them do you think they'll offer a trip from NJ to St. Louis? I don't think I'll get that acceptance package anytime soon (takes 2 months sometimes! >_>) so I guess I'll ask them what's in it.
