Hi everyone. According to my the way my school GPA is calculated, I have a 3.15. I went on college board and found that colleges use this scale to calculate GPA:

A+ 97-100 4.0
A 93-96 4.0
A- 90-92 3.7
B+ 87-89 3.3
B 83-86 3.0
B- 80-82 2.7
And so on

I went ahead and recalculated my GPA according to this scale, and I ended up with a 3.46. Will colleges be looking at this GPA according to their scale, or will the be looking the GPA my school provides? My school's GPA system is very basic and very different.

My schools GPA system:
A 92-100 4.0
B 83-91 3.0
And so on

Some colleges do recalculate GPAs. Does the transcript that goes to college have a numerical grade or just a letter grade? And in any event your HS sends a school profile which describes how they grade students among other things.

Either they do or they don’t, they all do it according to their own system, and they treat each student equally. Some just know how to read the transcript and find what they’re looking for with formally recalculating. In any case, it’s not really worth worrying about, you’ll get a fair shake. You may be doing this for the first time, they are not.

If your school gives letter grades and you apply to a school that would recalculate GPA, they will likely use the letter grades for the recalculation.
