Do alot of students usually get Notre Dame MBA full-ride fellowships?

Yesterday, I started a thread which lists the 32 most popular specialty master’s degrees in business. This thread may help direct your energies toward a particular area of interest. Just search for “Specialty Master’s Degrees in Business” on CC.

We still don’t know what type of job you have now, or where you went for undergrad, or your current geography (is Wiss=Wisconsin?). But, there are many jobs you can do with an accounting degree. For example, there are jobs in auditing, traditional accounting (keeping/closing the books type of jobs), tax accounting and financial analyst roles. Further, financial analyst jobs encompass a great deal of variability and can include activities like strategic planning, forecasting and budgeting, purchasing and contracting, etc. These types of jobs are in all industries, in all sizes of companies.

With that said, it is not a good feeling to not enjoy your job and feel like you are in a dead end situation. The job market is generally good right now, I would encourage you to network and look for new opportunities. Network with friends, friends of friends, and via LinkedIn. Utilize your undergrad career center–most will help you polish up your resume, work on interviewing and networking skills, and many have job postings for experienced grads as well. They will also help with grad school applications. But, working for a couple of more years may help you better understand the type of job you want, and saving money will help fund a future MBA. You will have more opportunities if you are open to relocation as well.

As far as getting an MBA goes, please consider going to a company that will help you fund it…you would still be working, gaining experience, and making money while going part-time to school.

Although there are many different viewpoints, I strongly encourage you to not take on debt to get an MBA outside the top 20 schools. Some people believe students should not take any MBA debt at all. No matter how you fund it, it is a relatively expensive way to go on a what-do-I-want-do-with-my-life pursuit. Good luck.

@Jenny005: Notre Dame should offer you a substantial scholarship. If inadequate, try to negotiate based on your well above average & well above median GMAT score as well as based upon your gender.

Have you applied to any other MBA programs ?

@Jenny005: I think that not taking the CPA exam is a mistake. Completing the CPA licensing requirements will show career advancement while also exposing you to many areas of specialization.

^^^But, we are not sure OP has taken all the classes necessary to sit for the exam.

Over 30 jurisdictions allow one to sit for the CPA exams with just 120 hours even though 150 hours are required for the license. Unfortunately, Wisconsin is not among those jurisdictions.
