Do Amherst Athletic Recruits get Application Fee Waivers?

I'm just curious if anyone has experience with this, because I'll admit I think $60 is steep for an application fee.

^^^ Not sure if this is a serious question, but I’ll bite. Why would they? While I don’t have first-hand experience at Amherst, Williams wouldn’t dream of treating athletic recruits/applicants and any other applicants differently when it comes to fee waivers. It’s inconceivable that Amherst would either. If your household income qualifies for the fee waiver, you’ll get it–if not, you won’t. That you might be an athletic recruit simply isn’t germane.

Thank you for your response, but your attitude was not appreciated.

Given your question, I honestly couldn’t tell if you were trolling. Anyway, you’re certainly more than welcome to ignore my response. Good luck with your application.

I read your response, and thank you for answering my question. However, I just didn’t appreciate the attitude of “you’re kidding, right?”. I’ll admit I wasn’t thinking of Amherst but I got a call from the coach so I’ve been doing research.

The fact is that some schools do waive the application fee for recruited athletes, so it is not an unreasonable question.

It would be a violation of NCAA rules if athletes were given waivers and the rest of the student body was not. Since most schools do offer some kind of a waiver, it’s possible they extend that to athletes. Many schools, however, waive the fee automatically if you apply online or via the common app or if you visit campus so look into those as well.

You should direct that question to the Athletic DIrector or coach. There are certain categories of students that do get free applications there. THose who are low income and those who attend certian Diversity Weekend activities. Whether other events also have l free application opportunities, I don’t know, but you can ask… My son got a free application at a school, not this one, by applying on the spot during a visit. Other schoos offered fee waivers if he usd certain selected marked applications or applied on line.

Not in our experience.
