do any colleges pre-sort before interviews?

i was just wondering, are there any schools that presort through their applicants before they give them interviews? or is it just random for everyone?

ive heard the interview process is random for most schools...but is that necessarily true? that just seems like a waste of time for the people that the adcoms know they would never accept.

thank you for the information about harvard but the reason why i still asked this question is because im just asking people to list schools they know about.
i’m not asking specifically about harvard, but the info is helpful and partly answers what i was asking.

I interview for a Harvard peer school. We don’t pre-sort. Zero chancers and shoo ins get treat the same. The exception is when we’re near the end of the season and there are still some that haven’t gotten interviewed due to the sheer numbers. We’ve had the home office say: “Could you squeeze so-and-so in?” Obviously, this person is on the fence and the college wants more info.
