Do any of you have lives outside of school?

Im just wondering if all of you are book worms or what not. It seems to manage some of these GPA's, one would have to be.

I hardly ever study, hang out all the time with friends, go to lots of parties, partake in many drugs and I have a 4.2. Its really not about being a book worm, its about realizing what you need to know and what you don't need to know. Once you get that down, highschool is very easy (unless you take like 5 APs in one year, then you will have lots of studying to do). but seriously, i spend less time on school then anyone else i know, and i really am NOT that smart. getting good grades in highschool doesn't require you to be smart, you just have to understand the system.

I don't have a life. My schedule is pretty packed and I've almost found my niche in my homework/studying routine. For fun, I play video games (although I haven't played FFX-2 in a few months <-- been trying to get a perfect game for the "perfect" ending) and hmm... I play the saxophone when I have some time. I have a few friends at school. I don't go out.

<-----------no life! I confess. I'm not innately smart so I study 24/7 to get the grades that i do

my school is insanely competitive and hard so i gotta work damn hard for my grades, and i also have a crapload of ECs. in fact, in my class of 80 kids, by the end of 10th grade there were 7 (including me) that already self studied an AP. so i don't really get out of the house often.

I study quite a bit, but I hang out with my core group of friends (3 or 4 other people) quite often. We usually do nerdy stuff...disco bowling, video gaming, etc, etc. This 4 day weekend we're having a LOTR fest (9 hrs!). It's all about nerdy balance. It's school, friends, and ECs (tutoring, music lessons, volunteering, managing my music lesson company, etc. etc.)

I'm in a band and we play around town. Um, I like to play counter-strike though, go out with some of my girlfriends (yes, plural, all bow!) Just kidding. But not really. Oh I like to loiter around large parking lots in my fubu sweatshirt with my hood up, looking like a gangster. And i freestyle rap.

I never ever study. I consider lunch an academic because I spend it in the library.

I spend my time with ECs, community service, or on the internet. I agree completely with Hohner.

i study but im still a very. very. hot. girl. with a social life + bf. so... we're not all the same!

I really don't study very much. I prefer television and partying. I mostly do my homework during lunch or in class, so I guess I'm really not a good student at all.

But I admit that I'm not going to be getting into any elite schools. My schedule this year is super easy even my extra curriculars are lacking. I know it seems like anyone who posts at CC would be really into getting accepted to selective schools, but I'm just...not.

Anyway, I guess my answer is yes. I have a life outside of scool.

I have a life outside of school.......and it's called College Confidential! J/K

"I hardly ever study, hang out all the time with friends, go to lots of parties, partake in many drugs and I have a 4.2."

hohner, I'm gonna call a police :)

He's probably a math nerd cramming for his AP Calc test right now.

i hardly ever study, like hardly ever, pretty much do no homework just do it in school, do stuff with my friends all the time, stay out til the wee hours of the morning, people here are not all bookworms, well, not me at least. oh and im taking 5/6 AP's this year and i'm ranked tenth in my class...

I'm in 6 ap classes... I work my ass off. But I work hard then play even harder. I go out on the the weekends and party and all that good stuff.

I don't go to any parties. I never HEAR of any parties, nor do I think people in my school throw them.

I second that. All this crap you see in the movies about these crazy high school parties that everybody goes to is...crap. At best people will have like 15 people and even that will get shut down by the cops. We have a lot of cops around here...

oh i live in nyc and for parties someone rents out a loft and its like a club. and more than 150 ppl. its very awesome. so for me, yeah the movies are quite accurate. there are a minimum of 4 big parties every year, and i mean big. loves it.

oh...we have keggers every weekend here... hmm.... they are pretty crazy, I'm not gonna lie.

i do have a social life. i think one of the most important things in high school is to enjoy it. that means study hard, challenge yourself, but most importantly enjoy it. imagine when you are 30 or 50 and you'll be working. what will your memories be of high school? a stressed out time when all you were focused was on college? dont get me wrong here but I am not trying to be a hypocrite. my junior year of hs i got barely any sleep and took 5 AP classes. i still had a social life, but towards the end of the year I realized something very important. i needed to enjoy my hs experience. i wasnt really enjoying it- that meant hanging out with my friends more, doing idiotic things, and yes going to parties.

i really hope all of you still studiously study but also try to have a life. its important for your own mental and social health. academics isnt everything. its part of a bigger picture.

and btw i am not slacking either my senior year. i am taking 3 APs but a much lighter schedule (comparatively to last year). My grades are fine and I am truly a much happier person. i go out almost every free evening I have and try to hang out and do whatever. it not only relaxes me but its also a great de-stressifer.

i know all the folks on CC are the nerdy, smart, and uberly competitive kids. i was like that until i realized that I was missing the big picture. be smart, but also have fun and enjoy life. you won't ever have this experience again.
