Do AP classes count toward the 60 semester unit at UCB?

Hi,
Son is Calif native, at private U and is thinking, for multiple reasons, of trying to transfer to UCB. Does he get any unit credit for the many AP classes with hi scores he took in HS? Or are the 60 units required for transfers supposed to be only from classes taken in college? Neither he nor I could find this info online. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

yeah it's a dumb question

ap credits do count towards the 60 units

You get college credits if you passed any AP courses during HS.

can anyone point me to a place on the UC transfer website that confirms this please. I know that once you are at UC you get AP credit for placement, I would just like to verify that AP classes taken in HS can substitute for some of the 60 semester units required to transfer in. thanks

they don't.

it's not that hard to find the info, by the way

Call the admissions office, that way you dont need to waste time screwing around with all the BS that is thrown at you on college websites.

I meant if you passed with a certan score, not the courses.

Hi MPM,

My daughter is also at a private college and wishes to transfer to UC. I looked on the website and all I could come across was this: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/collegepolicies/credit.html , but it doesn't seem like it'd be very much help.

I know that this is off-topic, but why does your son wish to transfer?

I don't see why lostincode was banned for his response, because he is right. It depends on what AP tests he took and what scores he got. Cal only takes some depending on the score so its best to call admissions, or check the department at the school
