Do AP "credit units" count toward the 180-unit graduation requirement?

The College of L&S awards 8 “credit units” for an AP Biology Exam score of 3+. Do these 8 units count towards the 180 unit graduation requirement? If yes, a freshman with good scores on a bunch of AP Exams could enter UCLA with 45+ units (i.e., enter as a sophomore in terms or units).

Thanks for your help and feedback!

It counts towards getting enough units to graduate. It won’t count towards going over the cap. You technically enter as a sophomore but you AP credits don’t count towards increasing your class standing for enrollment in classes.
