Do colleges look at AP scores when considering applicants just like they do for SAT's, or are AP scores only used for class placement and have no effect on whether you are admitted or not?

hopefully, not

but i heard it’s just for ap credit not admission decisions

Does not affect decisions at all

They’ll think somethings up if you get a 2 on an exam while getting an A in the class.

^ are you sure sure sure? as in would they rescind your admission?

No. You will never ever ever ever ever be rescinded because of a low AP score.

If you already got into your college, you won’t be rescinded because of a low AP score. However, colleges can use an AP score as a measuring stick for how rigorous your actual AP class was when deciding on your app. AP’s are a good indicator of grade inflation/deflation, it’s like the great equalizer.

^ Note that they also take into consideration the fact that some bright students aren’t great test-takers, which may be the cause of the lower AP exam score.

^^
Or some bright students were sick that day, or some bright students had teachers who didn’t really cover some of the material, or…

Basically, if you get a fail the exam and an A in the class, that might be a cause for concern. If you just got like a 3 or 4 instead of a 5, it probably won’t matter.

What if you already got accepted? Would colleges think your dumb or something if you did bad on an exam going on now? (2010 exams this week and next) ?

^ See post #6.

NOPE but it impress admission officials!
