No, colleges care about AP classes. AO scores are for you, since some colleges allow you to use them to bypass entry-level classes.
But other than being used to bypass entry-level classes in many schools, will getting a 5 on your AP Tests help as much as getting a high SAT or ACT score when it comes to college admissions?
Sure it helps, in holistic. They see how you performed on a standardized test, not just in class. After that, IF admitted, you may be able to get credit.

A 5 on the AP test will help validate the course rigor, while many 1’s or 2’s will call into question whether grade inflation exists at the school. But simply getting a 5 on a test? No other benefit from an admissions perspective…
No, the SAT/ACT is more important, as well as 700+ scores in at least two subject tests (3 if your first two were in the same area).
