Do application essays require a thesis?

So I have been trying to work on my college essays, but I keep getting sort of stuck. Are college essays supposed to have a thesis, and if so, how would one go about writing a thesis for an essay about yourself? So far my essays are mainly narrative, with some commentary about the narrative and how it has affected me, and I'm not sure whether that's what adcoms are looking for. Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

No thesis. This is a personal statement, not an academic essay. Project your thoughts, words, voice onto that sheet of paper. Descriptive narratives with commentaries work, though I’ve never read your essays, so I probably wouldn’t know. Nonetheless, best of luck!

No. A thesis statement isn’t necessary. The structure you described sounds perfectly acceptable.
