Do application supplements..do anything?

So, I sent in a cd of maybe 4 songs that I sang, and I was wondering if that had much of an effect on your admissions? Or, it is jut like 'oh look! they have intrest! check"

My Son was ED last year and submitted a CD. We were told it gets forwarded to the correct dept. for review (music I presume). Not really sure if it impacted on his acceptance but he did receive a letter from the head of the vocal program asking him to come down to discuss possible vocal opportunities. He is happily involved in several things as a freshman,so he is enjoying what is available but did it help in the decision for acceptance? Honestly, I can't answer that but I doubt it hurt. I was told that someone better be good at whatever it is (photography, poetry, instrument) or it could hurt their chances but again, not sure if this is correct.

Sure, if they are meaningful. I sent in a ceramics portfolio, a very impressive journal I made after a serious science internship, and some appendicies to the application in general explaining my ec's further (some were kind of ambiguous in importance).

Don't send in anything repetitive, like a resume.

I disagree, I sent in a resume and I think that was instrumental in my acceptance.

While I think that a resume that is purely repetitive won't help you, a resume that portrays you more in depth than the application does really makes a huge difference.

right -- what i'm saying is dont' send in a run of hte mill surface resume. If you send in something similar to a resume that clarifies things, that's different. Thats kind of like what i did, sending in appendicies about things.

what if i send in a paper that i wrote that is about 20 pages long about prefrontal cortical thickness in schizophernics? would that help?

lol collegebond im pretty sure that they wouldnt bother to read all that and might even get ****ed off. unless of course the observations u made in those 20 pages are all based on your own individual research, then maybe you can shorten it and send it. if not, then don't bother.

they would be based on my research. im thinking about maybe just sending in an abstract of my paper which woould be about a page or 2.
